The flooring industry has suffered a commoditization crisis over the last several years. Where the craft of installation has been turned into a commodity. A commodity is something that only has one differentiation, price. The “big box” stores have been offering free, or deeply discounted installation prices. This gives the public the illusion that installation of flooring has little or no value. The actual truth is the installation can make or break the flooring materials no matter how high the quality is at the time of purchase. skilled craftsmen are routinely lumped in with the quick and cheap short-cutters who make the floor look installed while taking every short-cut in the book. The cheap comes out expensive. The money you think you saved today could cost you five times as much in the future.
